new interface 2/5/07

Finally got the rhythm tool working. It took a lot of work and THREADS. Meh…I couldn’t be arsed writing any more. Have a screen shot:

Here is what I have done.  Made a rough layout of what it may look like. Like have the lables going over the strings… or something. I am going to have it so it simply loads up a .rhy/.wav file.. loads the lables over the string.. Hard to work when hungover…

Ok the recorder is finished.. Well in my opinion. It works perfectly. Only thing I did not get was getting the files saved with the effects applied to them.. I fixed the Zoom problems and added a new slider for the gain which is very cool. Very loud.

I have put a 60 second limit on the timer too. It works fine for 60 secs. Just did not see the need to go above that..

I also made a new interface too.. I like the clunky, bold, bright look. Obviously cound have different skins..

16th April

Ok, the tab is now highlighting notes in succession at 1 second intervals so we have a working interface. The next step will be calculating the relative times for the actual song. I will have to do a bit of research on tempos etc. The more complex this gets, the more trouble there will be with the CPU going out of sync.

Thursday 3rd May 2007 – Documentation (worth 20% !!!!)

Monday 28th May  – DEMOs start.

 The documentation is just three weeks away.

We need to do:

1. A User manual (about 10 pages)
   
2. A Techinical Manual (~16 pages)
   
3. An sample of your best code (30 pages max)

Note the 3 documents should be all bound together in a single volume using a binder.

13th April

Ok Recorder is coming along nicely. I keep getting new bugs everytime I use it but am slowly getting rid of them… I have added a slider that can control the amount of feed back on the delay. It’s works with one slight bug. May try and do the same for gain(distortion) and maybe a volume! Few other things I think I will add/do or have to do.

Cutting maybe
New buttons
Get rid of Triggers.

Finally have the rhythm tool detecting 7 nation Army. There are no timings for this as such yet (the notes are played almost stacatto-like in this run). Next thing to do is work out proper timings (could be tricky) and a proper interface (a scrolling interface could be hard to implement in Matlab). The following interface is only temporary…
